How to include photos direct in email not as attachment?

Attachments & Photos
I am receiving email from others which include photos (jpg, gif) right there in the email without downloading any attachment.
I can’t figure out how to do that in the email I’m sending. I end up including them as an attachment.
Win ME or XP makes no difference. And copy … paste does not seem to work.

It would help to know what you’re operating.

Hi: This has taken me a long long time to work out – and I did it not just for your sake but for mine too – it has long annoyed me that I always had to send attachments. However, I have now worked out that you can in fact send pictures to show on the email (as an in-line image) rather than as an attachment!
Here goes:
Make sure you have enabled the Yahoo! Mail rich text editor. To check this – open a new email and look to the right of the subject line – if PLAIN TEXT shows there – then you have Rich Text switched on.
To insert the picture, click on the image with the right mouse button.
Select Copy from the context menu that comes up.
Position the cursor where you want the image to show up in an email you are composing in Yahoo! Mail and paste the image.
Once the recipient receives the email he/she may have to click the SHOW IMAGE button – sometimes the image appears only as a box if the SHOW IMAGE button is not clicked.
IMPORTANT POINT: This does not seem to work with Firefox – which is what I always use. I was totally frustrated that I could not get a picture to come into the email but found that if I used IE then I had no more problem – I don’t know why.
Hope this helps you. You can continue to add more pictures to your email this way.

I have the same problem. I searched the problem in “help” and it said to make sure rich text format was on (so it should read plain text as an option to the right of the subject line), and to copy the image, and then put the cursor inline in your text where you want the photo and control v to paste. However this did not work for me. And if I check the edit drop down menu (instead of control v) it does not have paste highlighted as an option, so I am still working on it. I noticed someone responded with these same directions, but as I said for some reason, it didn’t work for me. I will keep investigating.

I emailed Yahoo and they said:
“The Color and Graphics version of Compose in Yahoo! Mail allows you to
paste web based images inline to your email messages. Web based images
are those that live somewhere on the web. Currently, it is not possible
to add images from your computer into your messages.
To paste an image inline:
1. Locate an image on the web (”.gif” or “.jpg”) that you wish to add to
your message. This image can be selected from the Web.
2. Once you find your your picture, right-click your mouse and select
“Copy” from the menu. Some images may not allow you to copy them due to
HTML restrictions on the page.
[e.g. with for instance, you need to click on the little pic that they give you, so as to show the pic in full size, and then right-click on that pick and choose Copy.]
3. Next, make sure the cursor is in the Compose field and paste your
copied image by pressing “Ctrl+v”. Presto! Your image is displayed
inline.
[e.g. there is no right-click for paste in Yahoo email, you have to use the control V shortcut to actually paste the image.]
Note: The Yahoo! Mail Color and Graphics version is available for
Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6.0 and higher. If you’re using an
older version, we recommend updating to the latest version. You can
download and install the latest and greatest version of Internet
Explorer at:
